Best for: Schools with no dedicated time for Career Education and no regular homegroups
Deliver over 6 hours of Career Education to every student each year simply by including the Ponder Program for 10 minutes in your Weekly Assembly; an increase of at least 4 hours over the amount a normal school will deliver to each student.
How it works:
Sometimes this is the easiest way to get started with Ponder in a school, particularly where you have a large number of teachers and struggle to find time to integrate Career Education into your existing structures and programs. We find that schools that use this method often later move on to expand their Career Education programs, and that it may be easier to get your School Leadership on board once they can see how Ponder works.
All you need to do is ask for a slot in your school’s weekly assembly, then choose whether you’d like to deliver the full unit (slide + video + discussion), or skip the discussion and simply present the slides + video.
If you don’t have time for the presentation you can literally just show the video – it is suitable as a stand-alone learning point – although we find that students often want to have space to discuss the content after the video.
You may find that students and teachers begin to have spontaneous conversations about the Ponder Program content after each assembly.

Because it’s low impact, can be started at any time of the year, and engages your students with their futures. We’ve designed Ponder to get students thinking about their futures in a different way – it’s engaging and thought-provoking, without being overly challenging, and invites students to think deeper about their future. We use storytelling and clear examples to help students relate the content to their own lives, and give them clear next steps they can take next.
How to include the Ponder Program in your school’s assembly:
This will depend on how your assembly is coordinated and who is responsible. If you already have procedures for requesting time during assembly then follow those – if there is reluctance to give you a regular ‘slot’ you may want to start by asking for time at just one assembly to start with.
Step 1 – review the Ponder Program materials for the current module you would like to start with
Step 2 – select the unit you would like to deliver, and decide if you would like to present the full slides + video + discussion, or a shorter version to kick things off
Step 3 – deliver the slides and/or video link to the people who prepare presentations for assembly
Step 4 – on the day, introduce the unit and deliver the slides and/or video
Step 5 – repeat next week, and prepare for questions from students and staff
