There is no ‘standard’ career

Most of us have an idea in our heads of what our career is going to look like. We want a secure job with a good boss, where we get to make the world a better place and earn a decent income while we’re at it. It would also be nice to get promoted from time to time. But in reality, most careers don’t look much like this at all.
