Transferable vs. Technical Skills

Technical skills are job-specific skills that can only be used in one or two areas, but transferable skills are used in almost every job. Employers want to hire people with the technical skills needed to do the job, but also the transferable skills needed to work with the team and stay on task.

Share this info sheet with students, or cover the concepts in class. This sheet could be particularly useful when discussing the kinds of skills students should be listing on their resume, or when talking about building skills outside the classroom.
